MMR Catchup programme
The Gillies Health Centre is running a series of 'catchup' clinics for children, and young people under 18 years of age, who missed their routine MMR vaccinations. If, according to our records, your child is in this category we will send you an appointment (You may have already received this).
MMR catchup clinics are being held on:
- 18th November
- 25th November
- 2nd December
- 9th December
You can find out more about MMR vaccinations at The facts about MMR. For more general information about immunisations visit NHS Immunisation Information.
Repeat prescriptions during Christmas period
Between 15th November and 15th December your GP may issue you with a second prescription to give you enough medication to last until after Christmas.
Influenza Vaccinations
The NHS provides free influenza vaccinations for all people aged 65 & over. If you are aged under 65, but have a chronic illness, you are also eligible for a free vaccination.
For more information on immunisation, visit the NHS Flu Vaccination Information website.
.Our clinics, this year, which started at the beginning of October, are being held on the following dates (all `flu clinics are on a Tuesday):
- 21th October
- 28th October
- 4th November
- 11th November
If you are eligible for a `flu vaccination, and would like to have one, please telephone the surgery to make an appointment.
If you have not booked an appointment for a 'flu vaccination, but are scheduled to come to the surgery for another appointment, we will endeavour to vaccinate you at that time, if you wish, rather than asking you to attend a second time. It would help us if you could let us know that this is when you would like your vaccination.
Cancelling an Appointment
If you need to cancel an appointment you can do this here. Letting us know if you are unable to attend means we can make the appointment available for another patient.
Disabled Access
The footpath in front of The Gillies Health Centre is now available for use. There are four ramps allowing wheelchair access to the path, and to the Health Centre: one in front of Neil's Pharmacy, one between the parking bays, with two more, each centred in a parking bay to allow safe access from a vehicle parked there.
Breast Screening
Women aged 70 and over are entitled to free screening. If you have not been screened for three years or more and would like to make an appointment, please telephone The Breast Screening Unit on 01962 824841.
Women aged between 50 & 70 are automatically recalled for breast screening every three years. We have just been informed of the next date that women registered at Gillies will be recalled; February 2010. You will receive a letter shortly before, inviting you to attend.
Pneumococcal Vaccinations
If you are aged 65, or over, please ask at reception about a free pneumococcal vaccination.
